Cauliflower: The cauliflower market is active. Most suppliers have started the week light in supplies and expect this to continue throughout the week. Twelve count sizing continues to be the most readily size available. Huron and the Salinas Valley volumes are sufficient to fill contract orders. There has not been issues on quality as of yet.
CELERY: Celery market up on all sizes due to the Florida season ending and this is putting more pressure on the Oxnard supply. Supply is slightly below normal causing market to be in a slight incline. Celery demand is very good quality is just ok with some seeders still being reported.
Lettuce
As we move into Salinas valley California Availability will strengthen to greater extremes. Quality is good with no epidermal damage a little water spotting due to the amount of rain and light wind tip damage perhaps just a little smaller head yield
Leaf Lettuce leaf lettuce production looks very good
Romaine
Iceberg lettuce supplies are ample out of Huron and Salinas has started this week. We expect ample supplies. Quality is good but we are starting to see some external leaf problems due to rain.
Russets – Expect Russets to remain tight and demand to exceed supply. Idaho is producing the bulk of available product and some product is available out of Wisconsin. Quality is good..
Reds – Red potatoes are extremely tight because demand is exceeding supply. New California red crop potatoes will start out of Stockton, California in the next few weeks. Quality is expected to be good. Compared to the early summer varieties, coloring will be dark and full exteriors appearance.
